【摘要】:ThepresenceofimpuritiesinMTBEproductcanhaveadeleteriouseffectuponthevalueofMTBEasagasolineadditive.Oxygenateandolefincontentsareofprimaryconcern.ThistestmethodprovidesaknowledgeofthecompositionofMTBEproduct.Thisisusefulintheevaluationofprocessoperationscontrol,inthevaluationoftheproduct,andforregulatorypurposes.Opentubularcolumngaschromatographywithaflameionizationdetector,usedbythetestmethod,isatechniquethatissensitivetothecontaminantscommonlyfoundinMTBE,andatechniquethatiswidelyused.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthepurityofmethyltert-butylether(MTBE)bygaschromatography.ItalsoprovidesaproceduretomeasureimpuritiesinMTBEsuchasC4toC12olefins,methyl,isopropylandtert-butylalcohols,methylsec-butylandmethyltert-amylethers,acetone,andmethylethylketone.Impuritiesaredeterminedtoaminimumconcentrationof0.02mass%.1.2ThistestmethodisnotapplicabletothedeterminationofMTBEingasoline.1.3WatercannotbedeterminedbythistestmethodandmustbemeasuredbyaproceduresuchasTestMethodD1364andtheresultusedtonormalizethechromatographicvalues.1.4AmajorityoftheimpuritiesinMTBEisresolvedbythetestmethod,however,someco-elutionisencountered.1.5Thistestmethodisinappropriateforimpuritiesthatboilattemperatureshigherthan180176;Corforimpuritiesthatcausepoorornoresponseinaflameionizationdetector,suchaswater.1.6ThevaluesstatedinSI(metric)unitsofmeasurementarepreferredandusedthroughoutthestandard.Alternateunits,incommonusage,arealsoprovidedtoimproveclarityandaidtheuserofthistestmethod.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoconsultandestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
