【摘要】:Thistestmethodallowsthedeterminationofamericium241inaplutoniumsolutionwithoutseparationoftheamericiumfromtheplutonium.Itisgenerallyapplicabletoanysolutioncontainingamericium241.Theamericium241insolidplutoniummaterialsmaybedeterminedwhenthesematerialsaredissolved(seePracticeC1168).Whentheplutoniumsolutioncontainsunacceptablelevelsoffissionproductsorothermaterials,thismethodmaybeusedfollowingatri-n-octylphosphineoxide(TOPO)extraction,ionexchangeorothersimilarseparationtechniques(seeTestMethodsC758andC759).Thistestmethodislesssubjecttointerferencesfromplutoniumthanalphacountingsincetheenergyofthegammarayusedfortheanalysisisbetterresolvedfromothergammaraysthanthealphaparticleenergiesusedforalphacounting.Theminimalsamplepreparationreducestheamountofsamplehandlingandexposuretotheanalyst.Thistestmethodisapplicableonlytohomogeneoussolutions.Thistestmethodisnotsuitableforsolutionscontainingsolids.Solutionscontainingaslittleas1x00D7;10x2212;5g/Lamericium241maybeanalyzedusingthismethod.Thelowerlimitdependsonthedetectorusedandthecountinggeometry.Solutionscontaininghighconcentrationsmaybeanalyzedfollowinganappropriatedilution.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthequantitativedeterminationofamericium241bygamma-rayspectrometryinplutoniumnitratesolutionsamplesthatdonotcontainsignificantamountsofradioactivefissionproductsorotherhighspecificactivitygamma-rayemitters.1.2Thistestmethodcanbeusedtodeterminetheamericium241insamplesofplutoniummetal,oxideandothersolidforms,whenthesolidisappropriatelysampledanddissolved.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
